Westernaires Museum Guide and Volunteer Sign-Up

Are you interested in history? Would you like to get involved with our world-class Westernaires Museum of Western Riding History? We’re currently seeking help in a number of facets. Here are just a few ways you can participate:

1) Museum docents

We’re re-instituting the museum tour guide program for adults and Westernaire riders alike. While giving a museum tour might initially sound daunting, it’s easy to participate, even on a small scale. Interested parties will be asked to attend a full museum tour (given by a museum curator), then select three different topics, areas, or items in the museum that interest them most. The prospective guide will then do a deep dive of research into the subject matter. We will then ask each new tour guide to assist us by presenting those specialized sections during at least two (2) of our Tenderfoot museum tours, which occur in July.

2) Cleaning

Our museum is in need of periodic cleaning of displayed items. Do you have a knack for dusting or vacuuming?

3) Repair and development of new display cases and features

We're also seeking assistance with developing some new featured items to display. This particular area might require carpentry, electrical, or other specialized skill sets.

Do you have particular interests, ideas, or questions about getting involved? Please contact us. The Westernaires Museum is truly the masterpiece of Fort Westernaire.
